New York & Florida

Hey, everyone!

If you’ve been wondering why it’s been so quiet on my blog lately, that’s because I’ve been traveling. My mom and I have been spent the last few days enjoying New York City and we’re currently in New Jersey visiting family friends.

We will be heading back to Texas tomorrow and then I’m going to West Palm Beach, Florida on Monday to visit my amazing friend, Joni.

I’ll post again when I can. I hope you are having a great weekend!

Motivation Monday

This will be a very busy week! I am leaving for New York with my mom on Thursday. We are going watch the 4th of July Firewoks, see Annie on Broadway, do some shopping and visit my mom’s best friend in New Jersey. And hopefully catch up with one of my old friends, too. It’ll be a busy trip, but I’m definitely looking forward to it!

Here’s your motivation for the week. Happiness is often a choice we make.

Motivation Monday

It’s Motivation Monday again. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Mendi and Melissa’s visit to Korea is coming to an end. It was a really great week and it meant a lot to me to be able to share my Korean life with 2 of my very best friends.

We are all heading back to Texas together today. I hope we have a great flight and get over our jet lag quickly!

Choo choo!

I have been so busy this week enjoying time with my friends! Since I wasn’t able to post on Friday, I decided to share something with you today…

Have you ever been invited to sit in the conductor’s booth?

Melissa, Mendi and I were only able to buy standing room seats for the train from Busan to Ulsan. By the end of the trip, the conductor in the caboose of the train must have been so tired of bumping us with his door each time he went in and out that he decided to invite us in his booth. Then he held out his phone for 5 minutes to show us an amazing video he took from his booth of the train running along the tracks.

Here’s a short clip of the view from the conductor’s booth.

Say WHAT?!

My dear friends Mendi and Melissa are visiting me in Korea. We have been having a great time wandering around my neighborhood. We saw some AMAZING things, but it wasn’t until the end of the night that we saw something that made us speechless. But Melissa still managed to pose for a photo…

Action Photography: Soccer

With less than a week until I leave, I’ve been thinking a lot about my upcoming trip back to Texas. One of the best parts about visiting home is getting precious time with family. Unfortunately, my niece will be in Florida this summer so I won’t get to see her. She just turned 10 and it’s amazing how much she’s been changing while I’m away.

Each visit home flies by because I spend most of my time catching up with loved ones, running errands and trying to get things in order to leave again. When I was back in Texas in March, I tried to tone things down a bit. I stopped making plans with people and let them make plans with me and it worked out well. This opened up a lot more free time for me and I was able to relax a little more.

I was really lucky with my timing because I was able to be back during soccer season. It was my my niece’s first season to play. She is a great little player and it was so enjoyable to watch her.

Like any proud aunt, I took my camera to the games. I took these photos before I had my photography class so I was just playing around, but I think they turned out pretty well considering I basically knew nothing about photography at the time. And it’s nice to have the photos because I really miss her a lot.

Our Favorite Travel Photos: 10 bloggers share the stories behind their favorite travel photos

Geisha Maiko in Gion Kyoto, Japan

I’ve taken thousands of photos in really amazing places, but this one is my absolute favorite. I realized this as I was going through some of my photos and came to this one. As soon as I saw it, I filled with joy and pride and I could remember the exact moment that I took it.

Dave and I were on a trip with his parents in Kyoto. We split up with them for a bit because I wanted to head to Gion to see the geisha and maiko. We spotted this gorgeous maiko in an alley just behind the old famous geisha school in Gion. We had been perched there for ages, waiting patiently, as if we were stalking our prey. We spotted her from a ways back and tried to contain our excitement so that we could get a photo before the other tourists could block our shot. She walked expressionless and looked into my camera as I took her photo. Out of all of the places I have been, this moment and this photo is by far my favorite.

I got so inspired after seeing this photo that I decided to ask my blogger friends what their favorite travel photo is. Here are the results… Continue reading
